In this paper, Jeremy Nichols, Dario Alessi and colleagues provide the first evidence that two serine residues (Ser 910 and Ser 935) are critically responsible for the binding of 14-3-3 proteins to LRRK2 (leucine-rich repeat protein kinase 2), the kinase that is mutated in a significant number of PD (Parkinson's disease) patients, a finding which has implications for the therapeutic treatment of PD.
